Lemony Lace® Elderberry, true to its name, has deeply dissected foliage giving it a lacy effect. Looking similar to a Japanese Maple, Lemony Lace has lacy, fern-like foliage which emerges reddish-gold in the spring and then changes to a bright yellow, chartreuse color. Also in the spring, large clusters of delicate white flowers appear. Lemony Lace thrives in sunny to partially sunny areas. If you keep it pruned, Lemony Lace can stay small even though it’s a large plant.
Elderberry (Sambucus) is an ornamental shrub, known for its stunning, lacy foliage. Because of this lacy look, Elderberry looks similar to a Japanese Maple. It grows well in moist, well-drained soil, but is adaptable to other soils. Elderberry thrives in a partial sun. It looks best planted as a specimen, along borders, or in containers.
