The monstrously big red leaves of Mahogany Monster made naming this plant easy. These huge leaves emerge a show-red in Spring and mature to a rich mahogany. It holds its color well through Summer and finishes with almost a purplish tint for fall. It is the hardiest red coral bells and has a very nice mounding habit. Big and beautiful, Mahogany Monster is one of my favorites!
Coral Bells (Heuchera) get their name from the delicate stems of coral-pink bell-shaped flowers. However, today’s varieties are much more noted for outstanding foliage colors rather than their flowers. Most varieties of Coral Bells are semi-evergreen and often maintain some interesting foliage over Winter. They thrive in filtered sun.
