Ruby Slippers Hydrangea is a compact Oak-leaf Hydrangea with impressively large flowers! Full panicles of pure white flowers appear mid-summer and age to a burgundy in the fall. These upright, conical flower clusters can grow up to 6″ long! Ruby Slippers oak-leaf foliage changes to a mahogany-wine in the fall. This easy-to-grow bush is super reliable with thick, sturdy stems holding up its large, prominent flowers. It looks best as a specimen in your garden, where it has plenty of space. Ruby Slippers flowers are excellent additions to fresh or dried flower arrangements.
Hydrangeas (quercifolia), Oakleaf Hydrangea, are popular for their distinctive oak-shaped leaves, large flower clusters, and striking fall foliage color. Their compact size makes these shrubs a great choice for smaller gardens. Oak-leaf Hydrangeas perform best in part shade, with morning sun and afternoon shade. Adaptable to many soils, moderate moisture is required. Oak-leaf Hydrangeas look best planted along borders, mass plantings, or as a specimen in your garden. If you want to prune these bushes, prune them immediately after they are finished flowering in the late fall.
